I was looking for a set of 6-point sockets to finish out my tool collection, and after comparing prices of other "just" socket sets (ratchets and extensions not included), I actually found that this GearWrench set offered a better collection of sockets at a better price, and the ratchets and extensions were icing on the cake. These sockets are well made and I've already used them several times and they are holding up well. The sockets are stamped (not etched) with large numbers indicating their sizes so they are easy to read. The ratchet is comfortable in your hand and has the low-profile head (without the socket release button) which I am a big fan of because it lets you get into tighter spaces. Some people like the socket release button, so I guess this is just a matter of what your personal preference is. The ratchet operates very smoothly and has (I think) 60 teeth, so it doesn't take a long sweep of the handle to get your bolt/nut turning. They come in a nice case if you want to carry them around, but the case doesn't have handle--not an issue for me since I put them all in my toolbox and threw the case away. Additionally, I also purchased the 1/2" 6-point GearWrench set as well, and pretty much everything I've said about the 3/8" set applies to the 1/2" set as well. Both are very good sets.I'm not a professional mechanic, just a guy that enjoys having nice tools and turning wrenches on the weekends, so I look for well-made tools at reasonable prices. I do have a few (very few) ratchets/wrenches from some of the big name "tool truck" companies and they are very nice, but I can't justify filling my toolbox with those expensive--often overly-priced--tools. I won't buy the cheapest tools (even if I know I may only use it once), but I also won't buy the most expensive just because of the name stamped on the tool. I'm not using these tools daily as a mechanic/technician would, and my livelihood doesn't depend on my tools.I'm very happy with this purchase, and am certain that some day I'll be passing these very same tools down to my grandson (or granddaughter!).
